Day 8!

The eight day started with going to the animal shelter in Valga. Everyone
was very excited to do some volunteer work for the sake of animals who are
left behind. We split into two groups. One of the groups got the
opportuinity to walk with the animals for about 2 hours. And the other
group was  busy with doing different work for the shelter. We helped the
place out by cleaning up, finding materials for the dog shelters, chopped
and piled up some firewood.

After the activities we had an interesting group discussion with the owner
of the shelter. She kindly explaned what her work is about and answered
our questions. She was really happy to see the dogs being tired because
its natural for them to run around and they cannot do it in the shelter
too often. It was a rewarding experience.

After the activities we went to get lunch in Valga and everyone was eager
to visit Latvia. We just had to walk 500m to visit an another country!
Most of us had not been to Latvia and this meant a lot of funny pictures
at the „border“. After coming back, we had some free time to
make the animal right videos ready for uploading. The weather was finally
sunny and warm so we could stay outside and chill.

After dinner we gather in the seminar room to start the Estonian night.
First we watched a presentation of the country and had a little quiz.
Everyone was happy to get very nice national presents: delicious white
choclate, crackers, a keychain and a badge with traditional symbols. Then
we danced a funny Estonian dance called Kaera-Jaan. Estonian
team had gathered a lot of traditional food and drinks. After the
presentation of each one of them they invited us to try the tradional
sauna. Some were brave enough to join and even jump into the cold pond.
In conclusion, we finally got to do something about animal welfare, saw
the real situation of aniomals in shelters, changed ideas and last but not
least got to know the traditions of the hosting country. It was a splendid
day! :)
